So I was walking home from my last class, and I realized I was passing the chaplin’s office. Since I hadn’t had much luck getting a hold of anyone by phone, I thought I would stop by and ask if I could have a both at the coming ministries expo in order to recruit others to become involved. To my shock and surprise, it was no problem. I still have to e-mail some information to get the official OK, but it looks like things are a go. Now I just have a little over a week to pull together whatever I’m going to have there.

Ok, so I just met with Mr. Ruf, and I’m debreifing so that I don’t forget any important information. Sadly, I will not be able to use the recording studio. It’s not at all that he won’t allow me to use it - on the contrary, he’s said that I’m welcome to. It’s just that due to the fact that the facility is simply an old classroom turned into a recording studio, there is a buzzing noise that cannot be ignored. However, he was so incredibly helpful and gave me so many ideas, that I can’t possibly be dissappointed!
First of all, he suggested that I talk to the people at WSMC, to see if I can use their equipment for the productions. Secondly, he suggested that I choose an exciting portion of Luke and that I make a pilot. That’s so exciting and I had never thought of that before. He said that the quality doesn’t have to be high, but that all of the elements that I want to include are there. This is so cool for so many reasons! First of all, I can have something to show, other than just an idea. Secondly, I can get moving on something. He even said that for the pilot, the reconrding equipment that Arlen currently has at home might be suffecient! YAY! He also gave me some information that will be useful. He directed me to the website transom.org, which will help me be in the know about this type of audio production. He also introduced me to the snowball microphone by blue. This might be supeor helpful as it is affordable and it can hook up to my laptop, and it’s quite portable. He also showed me some other things that will be quite helpful. And what’s more, he said that I am welcome to try out any of the things that he has some to see if that’s what I want before I make any purchases. Speaking of purchases, he said thta i can use th mac lab in Brock, which has audio editing software on it. This saves me from having to buy that right now. I’m so excited I feel like jumping out of my skin!
Well, that was the meeting. I’m going to run downstairs so that I can maybe catch Dr. Hasel and set up a meeting time with him.
Over and out.

Okay, so I have done a really bad job at posting progress lately. It may seem like I haven’t done much work on Joshua’s house. Yet, the opposite is quite true. Over the past few weeks I have been working hard at getting in touch with several professors here at Southern. Here’s a list of who I’ve been trying to contact:
Lynn Cladwell - Help with my 501(c)(3)
Steven Ruf - Use of Southern’s Audio Lab
Dr. Hasel - Guide to information to help with accuracy in our productions
Ken Rogers - Permission to set up a booth at Minsitry Expo to recrut volenteers
Yesterday Steven Ruf called me back and I’m meeting with him in less than an hour to discuss the possiblity of using Southern’s Audio lab for audio production. From talking to him once, things sound promising!
Other news:
joshuashouse.info will be our home for a while. Arlen is working on a basic site to hold that place and give a little info on Joshuas House!
Also, there is an official joshuashouse e-mail address, so if you want to get involved or if you have any questions about the ministry you can e-mail us at info@joshuashouse.info.
I’m still working on getting the commitment cards printed up, however I have run into a few formatting problems. Hopefully we’ll be able to fix that fairly soon.
Well, that’s pretty much it.

Yesterday I heard from Zondervan. Unfortunatly, they did not give me a yes or no answer either way. This idea of having the recordings avalible online seems to be a bit confusing. There is not a number of copies that will be distributed, they will be distributed on the internet, so I’m not sure how to answer the question about where they will be distrubuted, and as far as what the internet sight is - I can’t really give them a whole lot, ’cause it’s not created yet. I kinda need their permission first because one of the main features on the sight is going to be the recordings. Anyway - it’s a little slow, and kinda frustrating, but keep praying! God will open doors in the rignt places!

As of today, Joshua’s House has an offical logo and a purpose statment! Wonderful progress is being made! Next Sabbath I am going to make an announcement at church to get more people involved. Horray, Horray, Horray! God is truly blessing!
Our Purpose statment:
The goal of Joshua’s House is to point to the Bible as the primary source of truth, hope and guidance for every stage of life. As parents and kids begin turning to God’s Word first, they will learn to have an intimate and all encompassing relationship with Him.
