Yes, that’s right, Joshua’s House auditions are coming up. I have been scrambling around getting paperwork, fliers, processes and all sorts of things ready for the upcoming auditions. So far there are nearly 30 people ready to audition, but we need more!! I’m hoping that I’ll receive a lot more calls and/or e-mails over the next couple of days with eager people ready to audition. The biggest needs we have are men and senior citizens.
That’s pretty much been what’s going on with Joshua’s House lately. Activities are moving along a little bit, which is nice.
Oh, yeah, I have to find people willing to help out with actually doing the auditions as well. I either need someone to sit in the sound booth and record the auditions, or someone to sit at the desk, hand out and collect papers, answer the phone and keep things running smoothly. If you or anyone you know would be willing to do either of these things on Sunday or Monday (even if you can just do it a couple hours), that would be fantastic! If you can’t pray that God will lead me to the right person/people.
Well, that’s pretty much what’s been going on here at Joshua’s House. As usual God continues to bless, which is no big surprise.

“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the LORD swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.” ~ Deuteronomy 11:18-21
Imagine if you had reminders of God’s love and his presence everywhere. Sit down as a family and try to think of things in your house, outside, in the car, anywhere that remind you of God’s love, passages from the Bible, or anything along those lines. For example:
- What if your water pitcher said“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:13-14).
- Or if there was a sign over your stove that read: “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:15-16).
- Whenever you get bread out of your bread box or out of the bag, you can be reminded of God’s love, “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness” (2 Corinthians 9:10).
- Suddenly washing your hands can remind you of God’s cleansing grace when your soap has a message like this: “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin” (Psalm 51:1-2).
- You can even create your own messages like “God will sweep away the sins in my life,”and attach it to your broom.
Sit down with your family and come up with as many of these verses and sayings as you can think of. Then you can make note cards, posters, and other fun things to remind you of God’s love all day long. You may have to help younger children write the words on their messages, but everyone can have fun decorating!
When you’re done making the message cards, have fun posting them all over the house together.
We’d love to hear about how your family enjoyed this family fun activity, along with any ideas you may have.

Or in my case, it’s more like singing while I work. That’s what’s been happening over the past few days. Our little apartment office has been overrun with stacks of papers, notes and all sorts of goodies as various projects (most of which surrounding the upcoming auditions) are underway.
The phone has been ringing a lot more too. Most of the calls are from people wanting to audition (a very good thing!), and a few are from other volunteers and people helping out with Joshua’s House in other ways. Things are beginning to move forward and work in ways that are beginning to resemble a real - up and running, full time organization - that is quite exciting.
Continue to pray that God will bless and things will continue to go well. And, if you’re around the Chattanooga area and you haven’t already made an appointment to audition for our audio dramatization, give me a call so we can get that scheduled (especially if you are a guy!!)
God bless you all!

Sorry I’ve been falling a little behind with keeping you updated lately. The audition ads went into the church bulletins for the first time this week, and already today I’ve signed a few people up for auditions. I plan on spending some time today calling bookstores, and getting these cards distributed. Pray that God will guide me to the right places.
God continues to send people to support this ministry, and for that I am thrilled. I am spending some serious time praying that God will send some people who are excited about making a larger time commitment so that they can completely take over a section of the project and we can move forward with great speed. The sooner we can get this site up and running, the more kids and families will have the opportunity to grow closer to Jesus!
This morning God may have blessed me with a really neat fund raising idea for Joshua’s House. I don’t want to give away too many details, but I can tell you this much - not only would this fund raiser bring in funds to support Joshua’s House, but it would directly point people to Jesus in a ton of ways! How awesome is that?
Well, that’s most of the news for now. I hope God is blessing You all as well!
Oh yeah, one more thing…I hope to be getting back on those family fun ideas again. I know some of you really miss those.

Well, things with the auditions are continuing to move forward. Area churches will have announcements in their bulletins, and I plan on giving some Christian book stores some hand outs to put in bags when customers make purchases. This is quite a task!
I am excited as well that God has provided a venue for the auditions that is way better than my apartment. The auditions will be held on the Southern Adventist University Campus in room 130. The paperwork is also moving along. The applications are done, and I have the parts picked out for the auditions. There is still a lot of work to do, but things are certainly moving forward.
Pray that my phone will be flooded with calls over the next few weeks with people eager to audition.

The date is set for round one of audio auditions. They will be held on August 5 from 8am-6pm and on August 6 from 8am to 4pm. The auditions will be by appointment (so if you’re interested in auditioning and will be in the Collegedale area at that time, contact us for a time). This is all very exciting! Things are really moving. I’ve contacted several churches in the area to have them put info about the auditions in their church bulletins every week until the auditions actually happen. I’m also hoping to have some postcards printed out that I can put up around town and give to some local stores to put in bags.
I have a lot to do before the auditions! I need some help on the days of the audition to greet people as they come in. I also have to get some paperwork taken care of. I have to pick out good audition parts and continue working on the scripts. I’ll be pretty busy this month, but I think it will all get done in time.
I’m excited as things continue to move forward! Keep praying for Joshua’s House as God leads us!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot… I will be adding a page soon with audition information.

I just completed the first part of the big audio recording project. The books of both Luke and Acts have now been converted into script form! YAY! Now, I just have to figure out special effects and overlapping parts from the two books, then we’re ready to record. One step closer! Thank you, Lord!

Hello All,
I am back from a nice vacation to Oregon. It was nice to see families and to truly have a break from everything for a while. I have some things figured out for Joshua’s House that will hopefully help things to move forward quicker. Joshua’s House is such a huge project, and I have been trying to tackle it all at once. After much prayer and thought, I have narrowed things down. Right now I am working on getting the scripts together right now. When I finish working on those auditions and audio recording will start. As I get to the audition and recording phase I will pick up working more on activity creation again. This way - if there is a delay with people, I will still have plenty to do.
I will still be excited to get volunteers and submissions in other areas. However, I am not going to expend as much energy on that right now. Pray for God’s guidance as this ministry continues to grow!
